1. What were some of the challenges and downfalls of Novalee having her child in the Wal-Mart?

2. Now that Novalee has had her baby, she is now beggining to start a family, therefore she needs a stable place to live. What do you predict Novalee will do to make this happen?

3. Why did Novalee loose all of her money she was given?

4. How long does it say Willy Jack will be in prison for?

5. Who do you predict Novalee to end up in a relationship with? Forney or Troy? Why?

6. Why do you think Forney cares for Novalee so much?

7. Do you think Novalee will consider having another child considering what she went through giving birth to Americus?

8. Why is it important for Novalee's daughter to have a strong name?

9. Why do you think the people Novalee keeps on coming in contact with, continously keep helping her?

10. What do you predict happend to Americus at the end of chapter 18?

ANSWERS:

1. The challenges and downfalls of Novalee having her child in a Wal-Mart were that it was not sanitary, she had no medication to numb the pain, it was harmful to her and the child because there was no help and her life was at risk because she had no way of contacting anyone.

2. We predict that Novalee will attempt to get a job to support her and her child.

3. Novalee lost all of the money she was given because of her mom coming to the hospital and telling her she was going to help her when really she lied and took her money and left her.

4. Willy Jack will be in prison for 14 months.

5. We predict that Novalee will end up in relationship with Forney because of how much he cares for her, respects her and her body, isn't pressuring, not forceful, and shows that he loves her more than she loves herself. While Troy has shown massive signs of disrepect by trying to sleep with her on their first date, showing that he doesn't truly care about her.

6. We think Forney cares for Novalee so much because of not only the attraction he feels for her, but because she's a very humble, innocent, nice, optomistic girl even considering what she's been through and what she is currently going through. Also, since he's been taking care of his ill sister for a while now, it show's that he's developped a characteristic of being a caring person in general.

7. We think that down the road Novalee will have another child but she will be more prepared for it because the first time it was too unexpected.

8.  Novalee finds it important for her daughter to have a strong name because a strong name can with stand a lot of bad times and heart ache because there always will be tough situations you will face and hurt you will feel.

9. We think they keep on continously helping her because they have a lot of sympathy and they think she doesn't deserve to go through it alone and they only want to see her succeed.

10. We predict the reason why Americus was kidnapped was because someone wanted her for the fame.
