Q: What is one characteristic you see in Novalee that you haven't seen before when the book had started?

A: Novalee is much stronger now than she was before. She has a daughter to care about and to take care of therefore she is much more of a strong motherly figure.

Q: How do both Willy Jack Pickens & Novalee Nation approach their dreams?

A: When Willy Jack was in prison it really made him think about his career, so before he had gotten out he wrote a song called "The Beat of a Heart." After he had gotten out of prison, he was so determine to make a music career that he had gotten himself an agent.

Novalee’s dream was 50/50, she took many pictures no matter where, no matter when and ended up with amazing photography that she had sent in to people who can publish it. The people who had wanted Novalee had come to her with such interest in her photography. As it started off as a hobby, it later came into a job she had always wanted.

Q: Earlier in the book we saw Momma Nell's mothering style; compare that now with Novalee's mothering style.

A: Momma Nell's mothering style was very careless becuase earlier in the book you saw that Novalee was moved from home to home without her mother because she had left. Novalee's mothering style is way different from her own mothers, she cares for her daughter like it is her life and how Novalee herself would have liked to be treated.

Q: Why did Willy Jack kiss Ruth Meyers, when we know he does not like her?

A: Although it did not say directly in the book, we can see by his expression that he was so excited and was caught in the moment.

Q: Describe Willy Jack's appearance and give on word you think best fits him.

A: I think rusty is one word that best fits him because before all the makeover that Ruth had given him, he was a nasty man that looked like he had just came out of a garbage dump. Before the makeover, Willy Jack had to get his whole entire mouth fixed because it was filled with cavities and also gingivitis. He also had to get his nasty hair and body fixed up, this just show how poor he was and what he kind of looked like.

 

Q: If Forney is so close to Novalee, why won’t he share anything with her about his sister?

A: It does not directly imply it but I think that he is very embarrassed and doesn’t want to know what people are thinking about her, therefore even with Novalee he feels like she will not understand.

Q: Do you think Lexie and the new rich guy Roger Briscoe will last and why?
A: Yes, I think they would last because the way Lexie had described him and how he had acted around her and her children sounded like he really cared for them.


Q: Who do you think Novalee is referring to when she says she thinks she is in love?

A: It is very obvious that Novalee was referring to Forney when she was talking to Benny about who she might be in love with.

 

Q: Do you think Ruth Meyers will ever give Willy Jack another chance at his career after the fact he was caught going to another agent?

A: Ruth is a very hard-core character and I think that she will definitely not give Willy Jack another chance because he had just ruined her trust.

 

Q: When Sister Husband left everything to Novalee, what can you conclude about her actions?

A: It shows how much Sister Husband really cares for Novalee like she was her own daughter from birth. Sister Husband does not leave anything to Mr. Sprock or anyone but Novalee because she knows that Novalee will never leave them and will always be by their side. It leaves the impression that when Sister Husband died, she died happy knowing that Novalee is still there living happily like a perfect family.
